A stone farmhouse among the vines in Kurbin, Albania.
Lahuta e Vjetër sits among the vineyards of Gjonëm, in Kurbin, just outside Laç — a stone-and-timber house built around the things we grow ourselves: grapes, olives, vegetables, cheese, and a slow-poured glass of estate wine at the end of the day.
We built this place to be the kind of stop that road-worn travelers remember — cyclists and motorcyclists passing through are handed a fresh orange at the gate, and every guest sits down to a table set with what came from our own garden, our own animals, and our own vines that morning.
I'm Velo — I grew up on this land, and these days I'm the one who greets you at the gate, pours the wine, and makes sure the animals haven't wandered off with a guest's shoes. English, Albanian, German, whatever's needed — we always find a way to talk.
“The owner's son was so personable, so giving of his time, and spoke fluent English.”
— Timothy Ray, Google review
